Cat Grooming

Calm, patient grooming — the way every cat prefers.

Cats are not small dogs — and grooming them safely requires specialist knowledge, precision and respect for their unique anatomy and behaviour.

At The Canine Parlour, cat grooming is approached with the utmost care. Even the calmest, friendliest cats can react unpredictably when stressed, which is why our service is designed to be controlled, one-to-one and welfare-led at every stage.

Why Cat Grooming Requires Specialist Skill

Cats have extremely delicate skin — often described as being as thin and fragile as tissue paper. Unlike dogs, their skin tears easily if handled incorrectly or if grooming equipment is used without precision.

Because of this, cat grooming requires:

• Exceptionally careful handling

• Precise clipper and scissor work

• A deep understanding of feline anatomy

• Constant monitoring of stress levels and body language

Incorrect techniques or rushed grooming can result in skin damage, discomfort or long-term fear responses. Our approach is always calm, methodical and safety-first.

One-to-One Grooming for Safety & Calm

All cat grooming appointments are carried out one-to-one. This is not only best practice — it is essential.

Even affectionate cats can scratch or bite when overwhelmed, and working one-to-one allows us to:

• Minimise stress and overstimulation

• Adjust handling instantly based on your cat’s reactions

• Work slowly and safely without pressure

• Protect both your cat and the groomer

If at any point your cat shows signs of distress, the session is adapted or stopped — your cat’s wellbeing always comes first.

A Quiet, Dog-Free Grooming Environment

All cat grooming takes place in a closed, dog-free salon.

Cats are highly sensitive to sound, scent and movement. Barking dogs and unfamiliar smells can significantly increase anxiety, so creating a calm, quiet space is essential to a successful grooming experience.

Our Cat Grooming Services

Each session is tailored to your cat’s coat condition, temperament and tolerance and may include:

• Nail clipping

• Bath, brush and blow-dry (where appropriate)

• Lion trim

• Light tidying and hygiene areas

• Careful matting removal

Grooming is always adjusted to suit what your cat can comfortably tolerate on the day.

Pricing

Prices start from £95 for a full short-haired cat groom.

Cat grooming is highly specialised and time-intensive. Pricing reflects the skill, experience and additional safety measures required to groom cats correctly and compassionately. Final pricing may vary depending on coat condition, matting and your cat’s tolerance.

Our Commitment to Your Cat

Cat grooming should never be rushed or forced. Our priority is always your cat’s comfort, dignity and safety.

By combining specialist skill, careful handling and a calm environment, we aim to provide grooming that supports your cat’s health and wellbeing — while minimising stress at every step.
