Hi, I'm Izzy, Owner & Head Groomer at The Canine Parlour.

I offer calm, one-to-one grooming for all dogs — from beloved family pets to rescues, working K9s, and everything in between.

Known for my gentle, patient approach, I'm especially experienced with nervous and reactive dogs, helping them feel confident and safe throughout every visit.

Alongside grooming, I also run training courses through The Canine Parlour for owners, beginners, and aspiring professionals. Whether you're looking to start a career in dog grooming, learn to groom your own dog, or better understand and support more challenging dogs, I'm passionate about sharing my knowledge and helping both people and dogs thrive.

I broke my crystal bracelet and now I’m doomed forever - my reaction says it all at the end ox I LOVE this dog so much🥰😩 Mabel is one of my favourite clients. She is such a lovely dog, she was soo timid when I met her and now she sits on my lap after her grooms giving cuddles and she’s always such an easy dog to groom (which is a welcome change for some of the days I face…)

Dogs save people 🐾💛.. I remember my mum telling me at 15 years old to get a job in a groomers because I was obsessed with dogs. I could tell you ANYTHING about ANY BREED from 5 years old. Every Christmas and birthday I got dog breed books. I’d highlight the best facts or the most important parts of the breed I wanted to remember 🤣🥹 Every month I visited rescue centres with my mum begging to bring a dog home. (It was always a Bullbreed who caught my heart, every single time!❤️❤️) Life happened, shit happened and trauma happened. But I always knew I wanted to work my arse off. I wanted to show my daughters what we can still achieve. Despite having a full diary, Im still learning life everyday. I just turned 30. I had my first daughter at 19, my second during COVID, I have two giant dogs and a business. I’m not really sure if that makes me bat shit crazy or just a girl with a vision but either way I can’t believe It most days. I started with a mobile trailer. Filling up the water tank at 6am, defrosting the locks at 5am with a lighter, trying to park in London (horrific… do not recommend and take my hat off to mobile groomers!) I worked at prestige garden centres, and i groomed a top football team’s dogs on a confidential basis. I started grooming influencer and a few rappers dogs. From that i grew trust and professionalism. I became a name people started to trust. I always drove past our salon and said ‘ what a great spot going to waste’. And I’ll never forget when i said to my salon landlord the day I got the keys ‘I’ll make it work. I have to’ I stripped the salon bare handedly, feeding the kids McDonalds off of step ladders and getting them to help me paint. I borrowed a shit tonne of money from family. And it’s paid off. Moral of the story, do the thing you want to do. You’ll never know until you try! With more and more corporate companies buying out the pet industry, creating sweat shops… supporting independent businesses just like mine, really does make the world go round ( and very happy pets!) 💛🥹 Everyday I aim to make every client leave feeling welcomed, valued, appreciated and well cared for - Human and four legged! My clients are more than a number, they’re an important relationship I build, hopefully life long relationships! Thank you for continuing to trust me with your fury babies. The day I walked out of my shift… Was a day I’ll never forget. A day I promised I’d never ever hire or entertain anyone who treated an animal that way. Restrained to an inch of their life. A poorly fitted muzzle for no reason other than ‘I don’t have time for this behaviour today’ I didn’t set out to become a specialist. These dogs found me. And then I found my passion. Nervous or reactive dogs cannot just be forced through a groom. I can’t stress this enough. I have a set way I introduce these types of dogs to grooming. I also have a full meet and greet with owners and an evaluation before booking. If you have a nervous dog. I give up with spelling and autocorrect… chihuahua!*🤣🤭 Grooming old & frail dogs is dangerous…😔 Grooming a deaf and blind 18 year old dog? Scary and a privilege. They could have a heart attack out of fear. A seizure from panic. Their skin is desperately thin and could rip by one wrong move of the blade or scissor. They can’t always stand for more than a minute at a time making it tricky to get to important places. They’re prone to a lot of toilet accidents. The list goes on. This is max, he’s 18 and today was one of those grooms every groomer knows touches a big place in their heart. A paw print was the first thing I thought of when he arrived today. When I was grooming him today, I saw the massive change since his last visit and it made me so sad. BUT… I felt immense gratitude to still be trusted to groom him safely and to ensure he was as comfortable as I could possibly keep him. Welfare grooms, full of heart and always comfort over aesthetics ❤️

A polite* reminder 💝 More and more groomers are facing backlash due to their policies. Policies protect our income. Protect our diary. Protect our visitors. They are not there to be difficult. They are there to protect our time and expertise. Every client is emailed a T&C form when registering. By booking you accept these. Sometimes we can be too soft and that only hurts us groomers in the long run. but we have to stick to policies regardless of situation or relationship. Please also note the reactive dog slide before enquiring. This is business, not personal. Thankyou for those who value their groomers 🥰💫

This job is PHYSICALLY exhausting. On your feet from 8:30am–6pm, lifting, bending, handling, cleaning, hoovering, washing… and that’s before the actual groom starts. Bathing & drying alone can take 1–2 hours depending on the breed. Then there’s the mental side. Grooming burnout is real. Keeping dogs calm, customers happy, managing bookings, messages, social media, creating reels that take hours just to maybe get seen 😭 And when people complain about pricing… remember we’re covering products, utilities, rent, insurance, equipment maintenance & rising overheads just to try and make a living. The average groom is around £80 now in most salons — and honestly, it should be a lot more for a base cost. Small businesses are feeling the cost of living crisis hard right now. So every booking, share, recommendation & kind customer genuinely means the world to salon owners like myself. This song is so appropriate 😆😅 Cat grooming is one of the riskiest parts of the job. Cats are fast, unpredictable, and when they’re unhappy… they ALWAYS go straight for the eyes 👀😅 That’s why we always work with a two-groomer system — for safety, support, and to make the experience as calm and controlled as possible for the cat. Of course there is the odd cat who loves their pamper..
